Dr. med. vet. Claudius Krieg - Equine veterinary specialist

Since January 2011, Dr. Claudius Krieg, specialist in orthopedic equine medicine, is working together with his two assistants in a mobile equine clinic dedicated to provide your horse with the best treatment.

He offers a wide range of diagnostic services on a high level – not only in Munich, but also in the rest of Southern Germany and in neighboring countries.

During his work he combines conventional and complementary medicine and therapies, to treat each single patient individually and referring to its medical requirements.
Dr. Krieg and his team rely on best qualifications and high quality equipment during their work. For all the X-ray related treatments, Dr. Krieg uses a GIERTH RHF 200ML unit and the wireless digital X-ray system SCOPE-XXS 80C.

„For 13 years I do use the digital detector systems and my customers are used to get a quick diagnostic on the orthopedic problems of their horses directly in the stable.
Immediately after I stopped working in a joint practice, I bought the SCOPE-XS 60G with the wired Canon detector. At this time the wireless system was still in a very early stage and I knew that the wired system was successfully being used worldwide for years already. During an advanced training in an American equine clinic I was told that they were using 23 (!) of such systems for more than 10 years in rough, daily routine and that these systems are working stable and trouble free. There is no need for more reference I think.

I know Mr. Georgi for more than 10 years as a reliable partner for veterinary X-ray equipment. I talked to him several times and after a meeting in a horse clinic with demonstration of all detector system that were available on the market at that time, I decided to chose the GIERTH-system. The decisive and relevant factor for that decision was not the price, but the reliability and high quality of the system and the well-known and authentic presence of the company GIERTH X-Ray international GmbH on the German X-ray market. I watched too many no-name-start-up enterprises coming and going.

The quality of the wireless detector and the integration into adequate software, combined with professional service by the technicians of GIERTH X-Ray make the system the leading product compared to other solutions that are available on the market. For a CR system with similar quality, the user would need an uncomfortable bus. Only the cheap scanners with – in my opinion – poor image quality in X-ray examinations of upper joints of extremities or spine, do fit into a comfortable station wagon.  As the complete horse is in the focus of my work and also spinal diseases are a major part of my daily work, the SCOPE-XXS 80C is the ideal solution for me.

I work with the equipment several times per day – mostly under all imaginable conditions, directly in the stable or sometimes also under clinical circumstances.

In my opinion, the major advantage is the short time that is needed for the installation of the complete X-ray examination equipment. Within just 5 minutes the whole system is taken off the car and mounted (including the stand for the high power RHF 200 ML unit) all different kind of X-ray accessories by MXR Podoblock included. All relevant X-ray exposures may be pre-programmed within the software and made afterwards at the horse with the necessary calmness without the need to go back to the PC. All X-ray images which are not perfect at the first try can be repeated and corrected quickly. At the end of the examination I can directly talk to the owner of the horse and discuss the images.

I do not have to walk to the car every now and again, there is no need to develop cassettes or wait for the reader to make the images available. As an equine orthopedic vet, I am excited by the high quality of the Canon detector over and over again.

After work, all the small transport cases are packed into my comfortable Volvo again and the journey goes on to the next horse.

So each invested Euro in good equipment pays off – whether X-ray, ultrasound equipment or the car, because working is fun instead of stressful and the customers are happy with the results. They even sometimes call me because they know that on-site X-ray examinations can also be different and they prefer the small and superior detector case.“
